We are excited to introduce you to Flowering Minds! In these videos we boil down 12 years of professional floral design experience and practical business strategy into bite-sized lessons of high-impact and low-fluff content.

Our aim for these videos is to enable you to continue your personal and professional growth from anywhere around the globe. We encourage you to look at each year’s trials as an opportunity to adapt and thrive. We know the past few years have left many in a financially unstable position and we are hoping that by providing classes at a mere $1.83 per day, that you may continue to become stronger in your craft, even with limited resources.

This 6 month period of growth is meant to give you the tools you need to succeed, regardless of what success looks like to you. Alyssa, owner and designer at Color Theory Design Co, will meet with you privately in 2 hour increments each month at Color Theory’s Portland flower shop. Before the monthly meetings begin, you will meet for an introductory meeting with Alyssa to discuss your goals, where you are at mentally and business-wise, to learn more about what you are seeking and to understand what you consider to be success. From here, Alyssa will create an action-based plan, giving you the tools to move forward both mentally and physically! This is not limited to florists, but is meant for anyone who seeks encouragement, empowerment and knowledge, both in self and in business.

Private Floral Class 1 : 1 - Two Day Floral Workshop

Once you have a grasp on the basics of floral design, but want to dive in deeper to learn large scale installation using foam-free mechanics, bouquets using chicken wire, and large urn floral centerpiece design, this class is for you!

You will meet privately with owner and lead floral designer, Alyssa Lytle, to be guided through these designs and given detailed instructions on how to enhance your skill. You will be given the choice of what type of floral installation you’d like to learn - whether it’s hanging, a floral wall, a floral arch or grounded ceremony piece.

This private class will be held in our flower shop in Portland, Oregon where we can enjoy the space, have plenty of privacy and enjoy the natural light from our floor to ceiling windows. All floral designs in this two day workshop will be photographed and emailed to you for use in your portfolio, website, social media, or just for your enjoyment!

When attending this class you will need to bring nothing but yourself! Color Theory will provide lunch for both days, light refreshments, floral design tools, vases, chicken wire, flower frogs and all other tools/mechanics necessary for the designs that day.

1 : 1 FLORAL CLASS - 4 HOUR INTENSIVE

Alyssa, of Color Theory Design Co, will give you one on one instruction in creating artfully designed floral masterpieces using local blooms in unique and striking palettes. Whether you are a creative spirit wanting to begin on your floral design venture or a seasoned florist who wants a new perspective, Alyssa will discuss with you what your aim for this class is and customize the curriculum based on your needs. In this 4 hour 1:1 class you will be able to choose to focus on centerpieces, bridal bouquets or the mechanics and creation of a small installation.

When attending this class you will need to bring nothing but yourself!

Floral Centerpiece Design Class

We recommend this class for absolutely everyone. This is a great class for a complete beginner or a seasoned designer who wants to expand their knowledge. We will teach a floral foam-free approach using chicken wire and flower frogs in a modern compote. We will offer seasonal and premium blooms such as garden roses, ranunculus, sweet peas, double tulips, dahlias, and peonies in striking color palettes that will enhance your portfolio.

Lastly, we will teach the class out of our flower shop in central Portland where you can design in the natural bright light coming from our floor to ceiling windows off NE Sandy Blvd. Once the floral centerpieces are finished, each design will be professionally photographed and emailed to you for use in your portfolio, website, social media, or just for your enjoyment!

When attending this class you will need to bring nothing but yourself! Color Theory will provide light refreshments, floral design tools, vases, chicken wire and flower frogs. We do use tall tables so you are able to design while standing up, but if you need to sit, please send us a private request and we can accommodate your needs.
