CAPE KIWANDA ELOPEMENT INSPIRATION

We have officially OFFICIALLY moved to the Portland/Vancouver, Washington area as of this year and shall remain a Portland Oregon wedding florist forevermore! We decided to get to know some local vendor talent by coordinating a photoshoot on the beach. Photographer, Alixann Loosle, had already reached out introducing herself and I immediately was drawn to her work and thankfully she was down to get involved. We scouted out locations and chose the beautiful Cape Kiwanda, a beach location framed by structural rust and buff-colored cliffs on the coast of Oregon. The colors of the sand and the cliffs had a very monochromatic feel, so we decided to work wholly off of the rust, buff, brown, mauve and grey tones we found in the surroundings.

This was the first photoshoot Color Theory Collective had coordinated and styled, so we went all out involving makers and vendors for all types of products that could enhance an event! I was so excited to be in Portland where professional artists abound and immediately reached out to Notary Ceramics for her beautiful stoneware and Mazama Wares for their blown glass.

Dias Made contributed the most artfully created stationary, including menus, place cards and intricate invitation suites. I gave her some contemporary art inspiration and colors and she totally ran with these ideas and made them her own with minimalist shapes and textures that brought in the most poignant touches.

Our model, Alexandra Hagel, added to the monochromatic scene with her bright auburn hair and fair skin. Make up artist, Kelli Thomsen, gave her an unreal glow, keeping her totally natural and dewey, lending to a more editorial look.

We added some contemporary details with jewelry from Seaworthy PDX and simple swimwear from Static Swimwear because I think if you are getting married at the beach you might as well have a beach party! Granted, it was about 50 degrees and raining during the shoot, so we had a pretty tough model.
